Cooldrums.ca will inspire drummers to develop an original style and modern technique by learning to play cool beats on the drums.

Beats don’t have to have a million notes in them to be cool. In this example I use very little notation and the result is a pleasing groove with a nice loose feel. I start with a single pick-up note, then carry the beat forward with a solid quarter note pulse on the hi-hats. Next I drop in a few syncopated sixteenth notes and play over the bar line with a simple hi-hat to bass drum combo. This beat is also fun to play with the left hand on the hi-hats.

Hi Joe, nice to see the beats!!
Question, on beat 198 1/4 notes on hi hats is the rest not 1/8th notes? or do I need more practice reading music?
