I was recently listening to a Wayne Dyer audio book when I remembered a miracle that happened to me years ago on my honeymoon in Kauai Hawaii. We had just finished 7 days on two islands and I had been looking to buy some drums as a sentimental reminder of our journey to the islands. I had scoured gift shop and galleries, but there was nothing to be found… so I sadly gave up my quest.
On the 8th day we decided to take a helicopter ride to an unusual place called a spiritual vortex. The journey takes you around the island then lowers you into a volcano where hundreds of waterfalls cascade above you. I remember seeing rainbows flying in all directions; it was very surreal. After we touched down, the pilot wished us well and told us we would experience good luck in the near future. I thought nothing of it as we were going home in a few days and I was very happy with the trip… other than the drums.
We jumped in our rental car and decided to visit one last town for the day not far from the western shore. An hour or so into our shopping I plopped myself down in a big chair in a clothing store while my wife looked at some dresses. Right next to my seat was a round table that stood about 2 ½ feet high. It took a moment to register, but then I realized it was a giant handmade drum. I couldn’t believe it… it was the most beautiful drum I had ever seen. I called the lady over and she told me it was made out of KOA wood that was unique to the Hawaiian Islands.
The prayer drum was made by a local named Sage who gathered the KOA wood from surrounding beaches after a brutal storm had wiped out 80 percent of the KOA trees a year earlier. She walked away and I was left there gazing at this amazing drum. I wanted it so bad, but when I looked down and saw the price tag said $1500, I knew it was nothing more than a fantasy.
As I was leaving the store I told the lady how much I had admired the rare and precious drum. She looked me in the eyes with what I can only describe as the face of an angel and said, “I sensed your aura when you walked in. That drum was meant for you.” She grabbed a pen and crossed out the original price and wrote $200 beside it. I will never forget how grateful I felt at that moment.
It was sheer ecstasy 5 minutes later when I was loading ‘KOA’ into my car. Not even 45 minutes later I found another one-of-a-kind prayer drum made out of clay with beautiful whales carved into the side. It was an exquisite work of art and a studio quality musical instrument. Two stores after that I found a talking drum and two smaller drums. I was almost in tears at that point and I finally got the message.
Wayne Dyer talks about spirits that guide us in our waking dreams. Was it shear coincidence those five drums showed up on the second last day before I left the island or was a spirit named KOA at work here?… you decide.
There’s a wealth of information here. I’ll be back again.
